Former Member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney will receive Gershwin Award at the White House. The event will be attended by other notable musicians such as Stevie Wonder, The Jonas Brothers, Faith Hill, and Jerry Seinfeld.
Sir Paul McCartney, was born in Liverpool, England, June 18, 1942. 67-year-old singer is an English singer best known as one of the personnel of the Beatles. With John Lennon in the 1960s, Paul formed a partnership `as` the most successful songwriter. He was still active musically until now, and became one of the artist with the highest incomes in the UK.
After the Beatles broke up, McCartney and his wife, Linda McCartney formed the band Wings `` that success in the 1970s. After Wings disbanded, his solo career until now. McCartney will receive Gershwin Award which is the highest award for pop musicians of his song "The Library of Congress."
Award given for a third time will be given together with Paul's solo concert held in the East Room, the White House on June 2, 2010. Last year President Obama gave the same award to Steve Wonder, and last year awarded to Paul Simon.
Guinness Book of Records recorded McCartney as a musician and songwriter most successful of all time with 60 platinum and singles sales of 100 million. `Yesterday` song that he wrote in 1964 became the song most often sung and played on the radio back to the United States.
